How can ICT be used to improve teaching and learning?

ICT in Teaching and Learning  

Information and communication technologies are currently being used in education to assist students to learn more effectively by providing teachers with access to a wide range of new pedagogy. These technologies are also being used to enable teachers to do administrative tasks more efficiently.

In this respect, I believe that the development of both teachers' and students' motivation in schools settings is an important issue that we must cope with in our educational practice. In doing so, we cannot skip to using Information and Communication Technologies (ICT’s) in the learning process. Hence, although the approach, which arouses a keen interest in the didactic areas, is clearly of communicative nature. It should be pointed out that these kinds of tasks will be adjusted to the various elements that affect our educational practice. 

In that way, ICT serves the following purposes:

1. Integrate ICT’s in the learning process
2. Use ICT’s in the classroom to work on information processing
3. Give ICT’s a role to help students be able to arrange, evaluate, and decide on the information   that   comes to them.

ICT have recently gained  groundswell of interest. It is a significant research area for many scholar around the globe. Their nature has highly changed the face of education over the last few decades. A small percentage of schools in some countries achieved high levels of effective use of ICT to support and change the teaching and learning process in many subject areas.



Many pupil consider ICT tools very helpful in teaching and learning because of the following reasons,

1. It help students to do assignments

2. Teacher see that ICT enables students with special needs or           difficulties.

3. Students learn new skills: analytical, including improvement in reading comprehension (Lewin, 2000)

4. ICT in teaching and learning can develop writing skills: spelling, grammar,punctuation and editing. 

ICT for education implies the development of information communication technology for learning and teaching purpose while ICT in education involves the adoption of general components of information and communication technology in practical use in teaching and learning processes. ICT helps teachers to interact with students. It helps in improve Teaching skill, helps in innovative Teaching. It helps in effectiveness of classroom. It also helps in improving professional Development and Educational management as well as enhances Active Learning of teacher.
