Integration of Constructive tool in Teaching and Learning


My reflection of using Constructive tool
Using PowerPoint to create simulation was a great challenge for me but I somehow managed to come up with beautiful advertisement simulation. ICT being informative tool, I could browse for information, attractive images and sample simulations in different websites which helped me to move further. We were asked to make simulation in a page which made me explore the features of PowerPoint. From the different features of PowerPoint, I made full use of animation and timing which proved to be one of my favourite.

PowerPoint can be used to construct one’s knowledge and learning as shown above. So it can be used by teachers as constructive tool and integrate in teaching and better learning in students.

How to integrate constructive tool in teaching and learning?
In order to integrate the constructive tool in teaching and learning, teachers must encourage students to use constructive tools to work cooperatively and construct a shared understanding of new knowledge. There must be an interaction between the teacher and the students when we use ICT as a Constructive tool to construct one’s own knowledge through visualizing one’s understanding. Most importantly, learners must actively be engaged in the learning process and they must able to construct their own knowledge through their own understanding to make meaning. When students construct their own knowledge, they feel motivated and it helps them to think critically. Learners must get help from the teachers when they construct their own knowledge so that they become independent learners in the later part.
Being a teacher it doesn't mean that we need to teach each and every step that is included in the textbook. More than giving instructions and details of curriculum it’s better to give opportunity for students to think critically, use their creative, construct meaning on their learning and letting the students discover what they are learning and reasoning out why they are studying on that particular lesson. It is even better if the teacher could guide, facilitate and encourage students thinking rather than focusing more on the coverage of the syllabus. The teacher must understand the level of each student's learning and get along them is must in the 21st century of teaching pedagogy. So, integration of constructive tool is also one of the teaching pedagogy and as a teacher, we must make sure every student construct the meaning of their learning through their own view of understanding. Construct itself declare the clear meaning of making something out of one's own view of the world.

Therefore I draw a conclusion with the point that teacher must expose the students to a variety of the source to discover and make the learning students centered with incorporating necessary and important techniques.
